Here you can check the approximate travel times by vessel type between the most important ports along the Danube.
You can chose from among four different vessel types:
Motor cargo vessel 1,350 tonnes: a small motor cargo vessel with a deadweight capacity of 1,350 tonnes. Commonly operated by small-scale independent ship owners (e.g. from Belgium or the Netherlands); operation mode A (14 h/day).
Motor cargo vessel 2,000 tonnes: a big motor cargo vessel with a deadweight capacity of 2,000 tonnes. Commonly operated by a bigger crew; operation mode C (24 h/day)
2-barge pushed convoy: a convoy consisting of a motor cargo vessel and a pushed barge or a push-boat and 2 pushed barges; deadweight capacity between 3,000 and 4,000 tonnes; operation mode C.
4-barge pushed convoy: a large convoy consisting of a push-boat and 4 pushed barges; deadweight capacity of up to 7,000 tonnes. Such convoys cannot travel the Main-Danube-Canal.
The calculated durations comprise travel times and lock passing times but exclude potential stops in further ports or delays caused by unfavourable nautical conditions or at borders.
